• 15cm x co-ordinating red & white fabric
• 1.5m x 10mm white piping cord
• Gütermann sewing thread - white

From fabric 2 cut two pieces 25cm x 17cm (B) and two pieces 25cm x 13cm (C).
From fabric 3 cut two pieces 25cm x 23cm (D). - Step 2

Press seams towards the darker fabric.
With right sides facing stitch A to one side of the panel just created using a 1cm seam allowance, pressing seam towards the single fabric.
Repeat to make the other side of the sack.
- Step 3
- With right sides facing stitch the two panels together down both sides and across the bottom edge using a 1cm seam allowance.
Press and turn through to right side. - Step 4
- From the co-ordnating red & white fabric cut a strip 12cm x 93cm. Press the strip in half (46.5cm) to mark the centre point.
Pin one long side to the top edge of the sack aligning the centre point with one side seam and the excess fabric at the other side seam. Sew in place around the top edge. Press seam towards top strip.
Fold excess fabric at the side seam under twice, press and stitch. Fold remaining long edge under 1cm and press.
Turn to inside and stitch to seam allowance, stitching through to the outside.
Use safety pin to thread cord through top.
Knot ends together and trim off excess cord. - Step 5
- Cut a 17cm star from the white felt. Using the red perle thread hand sew the star to the front of the sack as shown in the diagram.

- Handy Hint
- Cut out the child’s initial from white felt and stitch onto sack instead of the star.
