Materials

4 x 50g balls ‘Moda Vera’ FAITH
1 pair 5.00mm knitting needles
1 pair 2.25mm knitting needles
4.00mm crochet hook
Scissors
Yarn needle
Tape measure

Tension
17 sts x 22 rows to 10cm over Pattern using 5.00mm knitting needles.

Step 1

Using 2.25mm needles, cast on 230 sts and commence 2 x 2 rib pattern as follows:
Row 1: (K2, P2) to last 2 sts, K2.
Row 2: (P2, K2) to last 2 sts, P2.
Repeat last 2 rows 6 times, 12 rows in all.
Buttonhole Row: K2, P2tog, yfwd, (K2, P1) to last 4 sts, yfwd, P2tog, K2. Work another 13 rows of rib starting with a Row 2.
Change to 5.00mm needles and commence Pattern.

Step 2

Row 1: K6, (P2tog, K2, K2tog, K2) to last 7 sts, P2tog, K6 ... 175 sts.
Row 2: P6, (K1, P5) to last 7 sts, K1, P6.
Row 3: K6, (P1. K5) to last 7 sts, P1, K6.
Row 4: As Row 2.
Repeat last 2 rows, once.

Step 3

Begin Quilt Stitch Pattern: Row 5: K6, (ybk, P1W4, K5) to last 7 sts, ybk, P1W4, K6.
Row 6: P6, (slwfd, K1, P5) to last 7 sts, slwfd, K1, P6.
Row 7 & 8: Repeat rows 3 & 4, leaving slipped stitch at front of work.
Row 9: K3, KD1, K2, (P1W4, yfwd, K2, KD1, K2) to last 7 sts, P1W4, yfwd, K6.
Row 10: P6, (K1, slwfd, P5) to last 7 sts, K1, slwfd, P6.

Step 4

Row 11 & 12: As Rows 7 & 8.
Row 13: K6, (ybk, P1W4, K2, KD1, K2) to last 7 sts, ybk, P1W4, K2, KD1, K3 Rows 6 to 13 form 8 rows of pattern.
Repeat these 8 rows, until work measures 70cm from beg, ending with a Row 12.
Last Row: K6, (P1, K2, KD1, K2) to last 7 sts, P1, K2, KD1, K3.
Cast off loosely in pattern.

Step 5

Finishing
With right sides facing pin cast off edge to side above rib for 16cm, on both sides (as per diagram). Sew using a back stitch.

Step 6

Crochet edge.
With wrong side facing work 1dc in each st along cast off edge. Row 2: 1dc in each dc to end. Fasten off.

Step 7

Tie
Using crochet hook, make 5ch.
Row 1: 2tr in 4th ch from hook. Turn.
Row 2: 3ch, 1tr in 1st tr, 1tr in 3-ch space. Turn. Repeat row 2 until work measures 60cm.
Fasten off.
Weave in all loose ends.

KD1 = Insert needle through dropped stitch then through next st on needle, complete by knitting sts together;
