Log Cabin Throw

- Materials
- • 25 x 50g balls ‘Moda Vera Pure Wool 8ply -
5 each of beige, red, green, yellow, teal
• 6.50mm crochet hook
• Scissors
• Yarn needle - Step 1
- Note: Each block is made up of 5 pieces, a centre square and 2 sets of outside striped rectangles, there are 9 blocks in total.
To make one block:
Centre square - make 1
Using 6.50mm crochet hook and beige yarn work 16ch.
Row 1: 1htr in 2nd ch from hook, 1htr in each ch to end, turn (15 htr).
Row 2: 1ch, 1htr in each htr, turn (15 htr).
Repeat row 2, ten times.
Fasten off.
Striped rectangle A - make 2
Using 6.50mm crochet hook and red yarn work 31ch.
Row 1: 1htr in 2nd ch from hook, 1htr in each ch to end, turn (30 htr).
Row 2: 1ch, 1htr in each htr to end, turn (30 htr).
Repeat row 2 once.
Change to green and repeat row 2 three times.
Change to yellow and repeat row 2 three times.
Change to teal and repeat row 2 three times.
Fasten off.
Striped rectangle B - make 2
Using 6.50mm crochet hook and teal yarn work 31ch.
Row 1: 1htr in 2nd ch from hook, 1htr in each ch to end, turn (30 htr).
Row 2: 1ch, 1htr in each htr to end, turn (30 htr).
Repeat row 2 once.
Change to yellow and repeat row 2 three times.
Change to green and repeat row 2 three times.
Change to red and repeat row 2 three times.
Fasten off.
Make a total of 9 blocks.

Sew centre square and rectangle A together at top then the second rectangle A down the right-hand side; repeat the process joining rectangle B to the bottom and left-hand side as per diagram (Step 1).
Sew all nine squares together; placing the squares with the red stripe facing the top and right-hand side of the throw.

- Edging
When all squares are sewn together, take the beige yarn and join with a sl st into the corner and work 3htr into same st as sl st, continue with a row of htr all around the throw, remembering to work 3htr into each corner, when back to te beg, sl st into the 1st htr.
Repeat last row once.
Using red yarn work a row of red crab stitch across the top and down the right-hand side of the throw, then using teal yarn work a row of crab stitch along the bottom and up the left-hand side of the throw.
