Kids Christmas Table - Hessian Runner

- Materials
- 2m of lime green hessian fabric
3m x 6mm red & white gingham ribbon
4 x large white buttons
8 x small white buttons
Red perle thread
Hand needle
Ruler/tape measure
Scissors - Step 1
- Cut hessian fabric 50cm x 1.8-2m depending on the length of the table.
To create a 10cm frayed edge on each side, pull away the threads. - Step 2
- Measure 10cm in from one end and gently pull out the threads across the fabric to create an 8mm channel for the ribbon to be threaded through.
Repeat this at the other end and down both sides. - Step 3
- Thread gingham ribbon through the channels weaving the ribbon in and out of the remaining cross threads.
Leave 2cm excess ribbon at each end and fold ribbon under the runner.
Secure the end of the ribbon by sewing a small button with red perle thread to the top of the runner.
Tie off the thread on the front of each button.
Trim ends of thread to 1cm in length. - Step 4
- Sew a large white button with red perle thread over the four places where the ribbons intersect.
Tie off the thread on the front of each button.
Trim ends of thread to 1cm in length.
