Materials

For each design
• calico - 20cm x 20cm
• carbon paper
• pen or hard pencil
• masking tape
• No.8 embroidery needle DMC threads (1 skein of each)

Hat 10cm x 9cm
Shoe 9.5cm x 9.5cm
Bag 10.5cm x 9cm

Step 1

For all designs

Photocopy and enlarge the design to required size, then use masking tape to secure the embroiderers’ carbon paper to the back of the copy. Tape the calico to the back of these taking care to centre the design on the fabric.

Turn over and, using a hard pencil or ballpoint pen and a firm pressure, trace the entire design. The design has now transferred onto your calico and is ready to stitch.

Follow the colour and stitch guide closely for best results. Use 2 strands of cotton for all stitches.

Once stitching is complete, hand wash gently to remove the marking from the carbon paper. Do not wring or squeeze your work but roll in a clean towel to dry. Lay face down on the towel and press gently with a warm iron.

These stitcheries look great framed, stitched onto cushions or as quilt blocks.

Shoe
