• Assorted Cherry Christmas ribbons (longest 17cm)
• 1.7m x 16mm Cherry Christmas ribbon for inner border (purple pearl)
• 1.7m x 10mm Cherry Christmas ribbon for outer border (gold metallic)
• 50cm Peltex - ultra firm single-sided fusible
• 1m White homespun
• Beutron iron-on Christmas motifs
• Star button
• White sewing thread
• Gold metallic thread
• Gutermann Sulky #30 cotton thread for quilting white
• Vliesofix
• Rotary cutter, ruler & cutting mat
• Scissors
• Tape measure
• Hand needle
• Brother sewing machine (NX-400) with Edge joining foot

• Scissors - Step 1
- With white thread in both the bobbin and the top of the machine fit the edge joining foot as shown below.

- Note -
Peltex is 51cm wide.
Cut a piece of Peltex 51cm x 31cm and two 51cm x 31cm pieces of white homespun.
Fuse one piece of homespun to the Peltex. - Step 3
- On the scrap paper draw a triangle with a 17cm base x 30cm high and cut out.
- Step 4
- Cut a rectangle of Peltex 17cm x 30cm and using the template draw the triangle.
Cut a 9cm length of ribbon for the tree trunk and set aside. - Step 5
- Lay out the ribbons in desired order but do not cut.
- Step 6
- Starting at the base of the triangle lay the first ribbon along the edge and trim to size with the ends overlapping the sides of the triangle by 1cm.
Pin in place on the outside edge at each corner. - Step 7
- Place the second ribbon next to the first and trim with a 1cm excess at each end but do not pin.
Continue until all ribbons are cut. - Step 8
- Take work and ribbons to the machine.
Place triangle under the foot, butt the first and second ribbons together but do not overlap lower the foot so the guide sits between the ribbons and stitch together. - Step 9
- Butt the second and third ribbons together and repeat.
Repeat until all ribbons are stitched on. - Step 10
- Using the ruler and rotary cutter trim the sides of the triangle to size.
- Step 11
- Using fagoting stitch and gold metallic thread in the top of the machine (white in the bobbin) sew the tree trunk ribbon in the centre of the homespun covered Peltex approximately 5.5cm from the bottom edge.
- Step 12
- Centre ribbon triangle, overlapping trunk 1.5-2cm and stitch on all 3 sides as for trunk.
- Step 13
- Attach inner and outer borders to the edge using same thread and stitch as for trunk.
- Step 14
- Using Gutermann Sulky #30 white thread quilt around the tree as desired.
- Step 15
- Fuse Vliesofix to the remaining piece of white homespun.
Remove backing paper, fuse to the back of the wall hanging and trim any overlapping edges.
Zigzag stitch around all sides. - Step 16
- Stitch on star button using gold thread knotted at the front and iron on Christmas motifs.
Add rod pocket or ribbon ties for hanging. - Step 17
- TAGS - Instructions
To create a tag template cut a 7cm x 13cm rectangle from cardboard.
At one short end mark the centre point then 1.5cm on each side.
Measure down 3cm from the centre and draw a line across in both directions.
Rule from each end of the 1.5cm mark to where the line intersects the sides and cut off the corners (see diagram below).

- Fuse homespun to Peltex.
Place template on the wrong side and mark.
Cut off corners. - Step 19
- Using red thread and either zigzag or decorative satin stitch (grass stitch) work around the edge of the tag.
- Step 20
- Iron on motif.
Punch a hole in the top, insert ribbon and tie in a knot.
Write greeting on the back.
