- Materials
- • 1m Christmas fabric (‘Tis the Season’ stripe)
• 35cm green homespun
• 1.3m x 25mm wide red bias binding
• 25cm white rickrack
• 25cm red rickrack
• sewing machine
• sewing thread
• scissors
• tape measure/ruler

• iron - Step 1
- Body of apron
From green fabric Cut 2 rectangles 55cm wide x 35cm high for front and back of apron. With wrong side facing, pin or tack together. Lay flat. - Step 2
- Pockets
With stripes running downwards cut a piece from the Christmas fabric 55cm wide x 40cm high. With wrong sides together, fold fabric in half 55cm x 20cm. Press fold flat. Aligning bottom raw edges, place and pin striped pocket piece on top of green fabric. Sew side and bottom edges together, 5mm in from raw edges, leaving top of pocket open. To create pocket divides, sew vertical lines down length of pocket; first divide 13cm in from left edge and 2nd divide 33cm in from left edge. Place rickrack over each sewing line of pocket aligning the bottom raw edges and folding 2cm over the folded edge at top of pocket. Top stitch trim in place over the original stitching. - Step 3
- Trims & binding
Trim any uneven side edges of apron. Bind together the sides and bottom edge of pocketed apron front and back with bias binding. - Step 4
- Waistband & tie
Cut 2 x 1m lengths of Christmas fabric 10cm wide (with stripes running length of 1m). With the short ends together sew the two strips into one long strip, press seam open. Fold in half lengthwise, wrong sides together. Using a 1cm seam allowance, sew together leaving a 55cm opening in the middle of one of the long sides.
Clip corners, turn right side out and press flat. Insert 1cm of the top of the apron into the opening in the waistband. Pin opening closed and topstitch 5mm in from all edges, enclosing apron front within stitching.
