Bejewelled bedlinen
By Spotlight
- This project idea is from Michelle McCormick at Spotlight’s Braybrook store in Victoria.
- Final Result

- Materials
- • plain quilt cover & pillowcases (Koo range)
• iron-on motifs
• iron
• damp cloth for ironing
• optional - hand needle & thread to match the cover - Step 1
- Select a plain quilt cover in desired size and a colour to match your décor. The number of motifs needed will depend on the size of the quilt cover chosen. For a queen size set we used a total 26 stone flower motifs, 8 mint and 18 brown and for a queen size set we used a total of 14 skull motifs. Wash the quilt cover and pillowcase/s first.

- Step 2
- Lay the quilt cover out flat and place the selected motifs in the desired design. Mark each position with a pin or some tailors chalk. Lay the pillowcase/s out flat and again arrange the motifs in desired design and mark their position.

- Step 3
- Check the manufacturer’s instructions as shown on the packet. With the quilt cover on a flat surface, place a damp cloth over the top of the motif and iron in place. Take the time to check that each motif is securely fastened. If unsure, a stitch or two will ensure that they remain secure.

- Handy Hint
- When decorating quilt covers you are only limited by your imagination. Other trims such as fringing can be used around the edges. Sequins, ribbon trims and buttons can be used as decorations, or add children’s names using letter motifs. Another great way to decorate is using fabric paints and stencils.
