Play with papers & colours to create a brightly coloured journal.

Materials

• Kaisercraft tabbed journal
• Kaisercraft scrapbook papers - beach balls, frizbee, flip flops, sunshine
• PVA glue
• paint brush
• paint to match papers
• fine sandpaper
• single hole punch
• pencil
• craft knife, ruler & cutting mat
• assorted co-ordinating ribbons
• scissors
• paper of choice for pages

Step 1

For all pages
Cut a 117mm wide x 157mm high rectangle from stated paper and place on journal page to outline holes using a pencil.

Punch out holes with single hole punch. Mix water with PVA and brush onto back of paper.

Glue paper to journal page, matching holes and smoothing out any bubbles. Allow to dry. Cut a 37mm diameter circle for tabs.

Page 1
Front: Cut a rectangle from patterned side of flip flops paper and glue paper to front of journal page.

Cut a strip of blue patterned stripe from same patterned paper 12mm wide and 117mm long.

Glue across front of page just above bottom holes. Cut a 37mm diameter circle from small dot side of frizbee paper and glue to journal page over round tab.

Back: Cut a rectangle from dot side of frizbee paper and glue to back of page. Cut circle tab from stripe side of same paper and glue over tab.

Step 3

Page 2
Front: Cut a rectangle from pink dot side of sunshine paper and glue to page. Cut another rectangle from stripe side of frizbee paper.

Cut out holes and different sized circles. Glue over top of pink dot page. Cut circle tab from sun side of beach balls paper and glue over tab.

Back: Cut a rectangle from sun side of beach balls paper and glue to page. Cut circle tab from pink dot side of sunshine paper and glue over tab.

Page 3
Front: Cut a rectangle from stripe side of flip flops paper and glue to page. Cut circle tab from circle side of beach balls paper and glue over tab.

Back: Cut a rectangle from pink dot side of sunshine paper and glue to page. Cut circle tab from dot side of flip flops paper and glue over tab.

Page 4
Front: Cut a rectangle from sun side of sunshine paper and glue to page. Cut circle tab from pink dot side of same paper and glue over tab.

Back: Cut a rectangle from big circle side of beach balls paper and glue to page. Cut circle tab from dot side of frizbee paper and glue over tab.

Step 6

To finish
Embellish to suit your studio, workroom or office space. To create pages cut rectangles from paper of choice and insert between decorated journal pages.

Join all pages together by threading co-ordinating ribbons through holes on side. Ensure ribbons are loose enough to allow pages to open freely then tie off in knots and trim ends.

Alternatively use metal book rings and knot with ribbons.

Note

Lightly sand edges of each page of journal. Paint outer edges and 1cm in from each side on the front and back of each page. Let dry.
