• 5.50mm crochet hook
• 4.50mm crochet hook
• scissors, yarn needle - Step 1
- Small open square
Rnd 1: 4ch, join with sl st to 1st ch to form ring, 3ch, 2tr in ring, *2ch for corner, 3tr in ring, rep from * twice; 1ch, 1htr in top of 3-ch.
Rnd 2: 3ch, 2tr in same corner sp, *1ch, (3tr, 2ch for corner, 3tr) in next 2-ch corner, rep from *twice; 1ch, 3tr in starting corner, 1ch, 1htr in top of 3-ch.
Rnd 3: 3ch, 2tr in same corner, *1ch, 3tr in 1-ch sp, 1ch, (3tr, 2ch for corner, 3tr) in 2-ch corner, rep from *twice; 1ch, 3tr in starting corner, 1ch, 1htr in top of 3-ch.
For larger open square:
Rnd 4: 3ch, 2tr in same corner sp, * (1ch, 3tr in 1-ch sp,) twice, 1ch, (3tr, 2ch for corner, 3tr) all in 2-ch corner, rep from *twice; 1ch, 3tr in starting corner, 1ch, 1htr in top of 3-ch.
Fasten off and sew in all ends. - Step 2

Rnd 1: 4ch, join with sl st to 1st ch to form ring, 3ch, 2tr in ring, *2ch for corner, 3tr in ring, rep from *twice; 1ch, 1htr in top of 3-ch.
Rnd 2: 3ch, 1tr in same corner sp, *1tr in ea of next 3 tr, 2tr in 2-ch sp, 2ch for corner, 2tr in same 2-ch sp, rep from *twice; 1tr in ea of next 3 tr, 2tr in starting corner, 1ch, 1htr in top of 3-ch.
Rnd 3: 3ch, 1tr in same corner sp, 1tr in ea of next 7 tr, 2tr in 2-ch sp, 2ch for corner, 2tr in same 2-ch sp, rep from * twice; 1tr in ea of next 7 tr, 2tr in starting corner, 1ch, 1htr in top of 3-ch.
For larger closed square:
Rnd 3: 3ch, 1tr in same corner sp, 1tr in ea of next 11 tr, 2tr in 2-ch sp, 2ch for corner, 2tr in same 2-ch sp, rep from *twice; 1tr in ea of next 11 tr, 2tr in starting corner, 1ch, 1htr in top of 3-ch. - Step 3

Rnd 1: (C1) 4ch, join with sl st in 1st chain to form ring, 3ch, 2tr in ring, *2ch for corner, 3tr in ring; rep from * twice, 1ch, 1htr into top of 3-ch.
Rnd 2: 3ch, 1tr in same corner sp, *1tr in ea of next 3 tr, 2tr in 2-ch sp, 2ch for corner, 2tr in same 2-ch sp, rep from * twice, 1tr in ea of next 3 tr, 2tr in starting corner, 1ch, 1htr in top of 3-ch.
Rnd 3: 3ch, 1tr in same corner sp, *1tr in ea of next 7 tr, 2tr in 2-ch sp, 2ch for corner, 2tr in same 2-ch sp, rep from *twice, 1tr in ea of next 7tr, 2tr in starting corner, 1ch, 1htr in top of 3-ch.
Rnd 4: 3ch, 1tr in same corner sp, *1tr in ea of next 11tr, 2tr in 2-ch sp, 2ch for corner, 2tr in same 2-ch sp, rep from *twice, 1tr in ea of next 11tr, 2tr in starting corner, 1ch, 1htr in top of 3-ch.
Rnd 5: (C2) 3ch, 1tr in same corner sp, *1tr in ea of next 15tr, 2tr in 2-ch sp, 2 ch for corner, 2tr in same 2-ch space, rep from *twice, 1tr in each of next 15tr, 2tr in starting corner, 1ch, 1htr in top of 3-ch.
Rep round 5 twice, (inc as per patt established), then change to C3 and work 3 more rows, then work 1 row in MC.
Fasten off.
Gusset
Using C1 make 136ch.
Row 1: 1dc into the back loop of 2nd ch from the hook, work 1dc into the back loop on ea ch (135 ch).
Rows 2 & 3: 1ch, 1dc in ea dc to end.
Rows 4 & 5: (C2) 1ch, 1dc in ea dc to end.
Rows 6 & 7: (C3) 1ch, 1dc in ea dc to end.
Turn gusset around and work rows 4, 5, 6 & 7 along the other side of the gusset.
Make up
With MC and wrong sides of one square and gusset facing, work a row of dc through both pieces evenly around three sides of the square.
Fasten off.
Rep for the other side of bag. Using 4.5mm hook and MC
work 2 rows of dc around the top of bag.
Fasten off.
Handles: Work 5 rows dc along one side of top of bag, place handles on the piece then fold
in half over the handle rod and sew in place. Rep for other side. - Abbreviation
