Project

Glove pooch

By Spotlight

This is a truly delightful softy project using ordinary gloves
Final Result
Materials
• pair of large cotton knit gloves
• 20mm black button
• 2 x 15mm black buttons
• stranded cotton - white, black & red
• hobby fill
• small silver buckle
• 25cm x 12mm red grosgrain ribbon
• large hand needle/doll needle
• scissors
• pins
• machine sewing thread
• sewing machine
Step 1
Turn both gloves inside out. Sew closed the middle two fingers and the thumb. Cut off middle two fingers and thumb 1cm from stitching. Put fingers and thumb aside for arms and tail.
Step 2
Head
Turn one of the gloves sideways, lining up two remaining fingers. Measure 10cm down one side from top sewing and from this point, pin and sew a line going down and into the bottom of glove. Leave other side unstitched to allow turning. Turn right side out; this will be the head. To create floppy ears, topstitch fingers closed. Stuff head shape with stuffing, shaping into a dog face.
Step 3
Body
Turn the other glove right side out. Stuff the fingers to create legs, and continue stuffing to make the body. Shape body so that the base of top is slightly larger than top half.
Step 4
Insert the base of the head into the top of the body, add stuffing where needed to create a firm join. Stitch together using white stranded cotton.
Step 5
Arms
Turn the two cut off fingers right side out and slightly stuff them. Turn raw edges inside the arm and sew closed using white stranded cotton. Sew to body of dog, one on each side.
Step 6
Eyes, nose and tail
Sew 15mm buttons to face with black stranded cotton to create eyes. Sew 20mm black button with red stranded cotton to front of face for nose. Attach thumb as a tail.
Step 7
Collar
Attach grosgrain ribbon to small buckle and wrap around neck of dog, to create collar and to cover stitching.
