Felted wall hanging
By Spotlight
- Expand your felting tricks this season with a large scale project that shows off your needle felting skills.
- Final Result

- Materials
- • sheet of wool felt - green (35cm x 20cm)
• felting needle & foam block
• merino rovings – multi colours
• green pearl thread
• silver thread
• scrap of mauve wool felt
• 2 buttons
• needle & scissors - Step 1
- Lay the green felt sheet over the foam block.
Pick up a little of the green merino roving and twist it into a loose thread (or use a wool thread that is loosely twisted) then lay this down to form the stem of the rose.
Pick up the felting needle and needle the stem onto the felt. Lift the felt sheet every so often so it doesn’t matt onto the foam block.
- Step 2
- Pick up a little of the pink merino roving and twist it into a loose thread (or use a wool thread that is loosely twisted) then lay this down to form the rose.
Needle the rose onto the felt sheet. To form the snail lay a swirl of a variegated wool thread that is loosely twisted onto the felt then needle it onto the felt sheet.
Using the silver thread sew the antenna and under the snail.
- Step 3
- Edge the green wool felt sheet and both of the mauve felt straps in blanket stich using the light green pearl thread.
Secure each of the straps with one button to the top of the wall hanging.
