Materials

• white essentials large cardboard journal
• ribbon packs - summer & bella
• 4 patterned scrapbook papers - winter woodland stripes, citrus paisley, blueberry & cream delight, heritage coloured stripes left, heritage coloured stripes right
• earthtones mini brads
• 2 x black with white alphabet tiles
• ‘beaded’ small metal frame
• 2 x cork letters
• bronze tools charms
• 2 x ‘cool ice’ square poly alphabet tiles
• ‘creative’ rectangular word tiles
• flower ribbon brads - bright
• pastel star brads
• round gold brads
• large sporting balls paper clips
• extra small tag wave
• small tag wave
• large speech flash die cuts
• cardstock - light blue, bright blue, mauve, bright blue, red, orange
• photos
• glue
• double-sided adhesive squares
• double-sided tape
• scissors
• paper trimmer

Step 1

Front cover
Cut a piece of winter woodland stripes paper to fit over the cover of the book and glue in place. Use a brad to attach a small wave tag to the white stitched blue ribbon from the summer ribbon pack. Attach ribbon to the cover using glue or double-sided tape taking the ends to the inside at the top and bottom. Cut 2 x 8cm lengths of ribbon. Attach the tool charms to one then tie the other piece around first covering the join. Trim to size. Use glue to attach ribbon with tools to the inside of the spine of book so that it hangs over the spine. Glue ‘cool ice’ square poly alphabet tiles to front of cover for the title. Use wave tag for notes.

Step 2

Cut ‘blueberry & cream delight’ paper to fit the page. Cut photos into circles to fit in the centre of printed circles on page. Use wave tags to write names and date of birth and fasten opposite photos with round gold brads. Make a bow from brown organza ribbon from ‘bella’ ribbon pack. Place a length of ribbon along bottom of page, adhere ends at the back. Glue on bow. Adhere page to book.

Step 3

Cut mauve cardstock to page size. Cut out 8 green paisleys from ‘citrus paisley’ paper and attach along top and bottom of page. Slide green flower ribbon brad onto blue ribbon then attach ribbon above bottom row of paisleys securing at the back. Attach ‘creative’ rectangular word tiles to ribbon. Adhere photo to page and fasten with green pastel star brads. Attach blue pastel star brads to centre of paisleys. Use green die cut speech flash for journalling and attach opposite photo. Adhere page to book.

Step 4

Cut ‘heritage coloured stripes left’ paper to cover page with scroll centered close to bottom of page. Turn over paper that is left and tear a 3cm wide strip and attach to the left-hand edge of the paper using round gold brads in a row. Use cork alphabet to spell dad and glue in scroll. Place photo in small ‘beaded’ metal frame and attach to page. Print out or handwrite a poem and glue opposite photo. Adhere page to book.

Step 5

Cut the back of ‘heritage coloured stripes right’ (spots) to cover page. Cut a 5.5cm wide strip of light blue cardstock and attach across the centre of page. Turn the left over 'heritage coloured stripes left’ to the other side and cut a 3.5cm wide strip. Attach sporting balls paper clips to top of strip then attach to centre of blue cardstock strip. Attach 2 brown earthtones mini brads to blue grosgrain and attach down right had side of page securing ends at the back. Cut a 5.5cm square each of red and orange cardstock and attach to top of page in diamond shape. Attach photos/pictures over the diamonds in square shape. Print or handwrite ‘evoted’, ‘mazing’, ‘ependable’, cut into small rectangles and attach under the paper clips. At beginning of these words attach a black with white alphabet tile spelling DAD. Cut a strip of bright blue cardstock for journaling and attach to bottom of page. Adhere page to book.
Continue creating pages of special times spent with DAD and present the completed journal to Dad on Father’s Day.
