• 60cm x 150cm black organza fabric
• 120cm each of assorted co-ordinating fancy trims & braids
• matching sewing thread - black & aqua
• scissors

• sewing machine - Step 1
- Lay satin fabric on a flat surface right side up. Cut trims into 60cm lengths. Split into two equal groups.
Pin one group of trims across the width of fabric at one end of fabric in desired layout with the first trim at least 10cm from edge. Hand or machine stitch trims to satin using matching aqua sewing thread.
Repeat with 2nd group at the other end of the fabric, repeating layout to match the other end. - Step 2
- Lay the satin fabric flat again with trims facing up. Place the wrong side of organza fabric on top of satin, matching edges. Pin together along sides and one end, leaving one of the shorter ends open for turning through; sew together using a 1.5cm seam allowance.
- Step 3
- Trim seams to 1cm and clip corners. Turn right side out and lightly press with fingers. Turn in the seam allowance and pin the open end closed. Thread sewing machine with aqua thread on top and black thread on bobbin.
With shawl satin side facing up, top stitch around all edges 3mm from edge, ensuring open end of shawl is closed securely.
