- Materials
- • 30cm fabric
• hand needle & thread
• ceramic cupcake patty pan
• hobby fill
• button
• glue gun & glue sticks - Step 1
- Measure the diameter of the top of the patty pan. Cut a circle of fabric twice that measurement (patty pan 8cm fabric circle 16cm). Thread the needle with enough thread to stitch using a double thread all around the circle. Tie a knot in the end and starting 5mm in from the edge sew a running stitch around the outer edge of the circle.

- Step 2
- Pull threads to gather but do not gather completely, leave a little opening to stuff with hobby fill. Stuff with hobby fill a little at a time until it is quite firm. Gather and tie the ends off the thread together. Thread the remaining ends onto a needle and crisscross stitch across the opening to secure.

- Step 3
- Run a line of glue around the inside top edge of the ceramic patty pan, place the ‘cupcake’ into the pan and push down gently.
To decorate the top glue or sew on a fancy button.
- Handy Hint
- The chenille fabric makes the cupcake look yummy, but any cotton fabric can be used.
- Handy Hint
- A china cup or small mug can be used for the patty pan if a ceramic one is not available.
- Handy Hint
- Alternatively the patty pan base can be made from fabric. Use a corduroy fabric and apply a heavy iron-on interfacing. It is a good idea to stuff the base separately and stitch a top on it before attaching the ‘cake’.
