Afghan adventures - Floor rug

- • 7 x 100g balls Premium Marvel 8ply
• acrylic - 4 white, 2 denim, 1 navy
• 10mm crochet hook
• scissors, yarn needle - Step 1
- Note: This rug is worked using 2 strands of yarn at once. To create the marbled effect when changing colours you work 1 strand of each colour together, before working 2 strands of the next colour.
Foundation row: Using 2 strands of white, work 52 ch.
Row 1: 1dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in ea of next 50 ch. Turn.
Row 2: 1ch, skip 1st st, *1htr in next st, sl st into next st, rep from * to end working last sl st into turning ch. Turn.
Row 3: 1ch, skip sl st, *1htr in next htr, sl st into next sl st, rep from * to end working last sl st into turning ch. Turn.
Row 3 forms the pattern for the main body of the rug and the stripes are formed as follows:
18 rows double white
5 rows white/denim
5 rows double denim
5 rows white/denim
15 rows double white
5 rows white/navy
5 rows double navy
5 rows white/navy
15 rows double white
5 rows white/denim
5 rows double denim
5 rows white/denim
18 rows double white,
working last row 1ch, 1dc in ea st to end. Fasten off.
Work 1 row of dc all the way around the whole rug, remembering to work 3 dc into each corner.
Work a row of crab st down each side along the length of the rug. Finish off and sew in all ends.
To finish off, tie a row of white fringing along each end of the rug. - Abbreviation
