• Small amount of 2 different yarns
• 4.5mm set of 4 double-pointed needles
• scissors, yarn needle
• hobby fill
• yarn scraps, buttons, beads, etc for decoration - Step 1
- Base
Using 2 strands of yarn together, cast on 30 sts evenly over 3 needles.
Work 9 rounds of 1x1 rib.
Rnd 10: (K4, k2tog) x 5 times.
Rnd 11: (K3, K2tog) x 5 times.
Rnd 12: (K2, K2tog) x 5 times.
Rnd 13: (K1, K2tog) x 5 times.
Rnd 14: K2tog x 5 times.
Rnd 15: K2tog, K1, pull first st over
K1; K2tog, pull K1 over last st.
Fasten off. - Step 2
- Base
Using single strand of yarn (approx 8ply), cast on 36 sts evenly over 3 needles. Work 9 rounds of 1x1 rib.
Rnd 10: (K4, k2tog) x 6 times.
Rnd 11: (K3, K2tog) x 6 times.
Rnd 12: (K2, K2tog) x 6 times.
Rnd 13: (K1, K2tog) x 6 times.
Rnd 14: K2tog x 6 times.
Rnd 15: K2tog, K2 tog, pull first st over 2nd st, K2tog, pull over last st.
Fasten off. - Step 3
- Top
Using set of double-pointed needles cast on 3sts.
Rnd 1: Inc in each st (6 sts).
Rnd 2: Knit 1 round.
Rnd 3: (K1, inc in next st) x 3 times (9 sts).
Rnd 4: Knit 1 round.
Rnd 5: (K1, inc in next st) x 4 times, K1 (13sts).
Rnd 6: Knit 1 round.
Rnd 7: (K2, inc in next st) x 4 times, K1 (17sts).
Rnd 8: Knit 1 round.
Rnd 9: (K2, inc in next st) x 5 times, K2 (22sts).
Rnd 10: Knit 1 round.
Rnd 11: (K3, inc in next st) x 5 times, K2 (27sts).
Rnd 12: Knit 1 round.
Rnd 13: (K4, inc in next st) x 5 times, K2 (32sts).
Rnd 14: Knit 1 round.
Rnd 15: (K5, inc in next st) x 5 times, K2 (37sts).
Rnd 16: Knit 1 round.
Cast off.
Note: If using thicker than 8ply yarn omit rows 14 and 15. - Step 4
- Join top to base of cupcake right sides out using matching yarn for top leaving an opening for the stuffing. Stuff with hobby fill until desired fullness.
Complete top as desired, using knitted cherries or flowers, beads, buttons, etc.
