    • Hi OliveBlue,

Thank you for your compliment and good wishes.

Being a stay-at-home wife and mother to a grown-up family gives me the time to devote to knitting.

Most have been given as gifts to family and friends. I usually make up a package of two or three items in Newborn size and a couple in 3 month size. That will all depend, of course when baby is born. The idea is to get them through their first winter. There always seems to be SOMEONE expecting a baby - must be something in the water???

Some of the items shown have been knitted in preparation for next year. And what you see here has been knitted over the past 12 months or so.

Locally here in NZ, there is a group (Knitting Grannies) who knit for the large hospital which looks after the South Auckland area. (I'm not a grannie yet, just a very proud great auntie to a very cute great niece who's been the recipient of a lot of my handiwork)

Of the 20 babies born every day at that hospital, 4 of them will be admitted to hospital within their first year of life. Providing them with some warm clothing is one way of helping. Most come from families from the South Pacific Islands and are on very low incomes and have a large number of mouths to feed.

Once I have built up my stockpile, I'm also thinking of selling some of them on Trade Me.

Don't give up in your knitting efforts, OliveBlue. All efforts, no matter how tiny they may seem are deeply appreciated. Remember, that it's little steps that help us achieve our goals. You will see reward in the long run for the efforts you put in now.

All the best for the future and happy knitting!
