Hi to everyone, I would like some tips on hand quilting.  When doing this should I be pulling the thread through the three layers or just the top and the wadding. Not exactly sure  Any suggestions would be greatand pics would be wonderful. Michelle

    • I haven't done hand quilting, but I'm sure you have to go through all 3 layers. That's how they all stay together for eternity.

    • I will try and help you.All 3 layers need to be tacked together, it is easier to hand quilt then having the pieces pinned. You quilt thru the 3 layers using a special quilting needle, it is a very short needle, using quilting cotton, the cotton should be the same color as the fabrics in the top of the quilt. Knot the end of the cotton and sink the knot into the layers of fabric. The quilt needs to be in a quilting hoop, the sides of the hoop are wider than an embroidery hoop and will hold the quilt firmly. Put the quilt hoop on the floor, table whatever you like, lay the quilt over the hoop then put the top of the hoop over the fabric, tighten the hoop while doing so smooth the fabric and push down to make a well. The looseer the quilt is in the hoop the easier it is to get the rock n roll quilting stitch happening. Google hand quilting and I am sure you will find instructions on how to do the rock n roll stitch. I hope this has been of some help :)
